<TITLE>06. Par 23-24</TITLE>L-23 Now, He was--He was a humble Man, a Man of sorrow, acquainted with grief. And we watched Him in His work. Now, we'll see Him when His ministry first started out. He become very successful in praying for the sick. Many works begin to accompany His ministry. We find that in this, He, now and then, done a great remarkable something, that caused the whole multitude to wonder. And there was many times people come to Him, and they--they wasn't ministered to. There was many times that people come to Him and seeking for curiosity, and He just told them their curiosity, in other words, was getting the best of them and let them go.
The Jews come, said, "Now, do a sign for us."
And Herod said, "Bring Him over here, let me see Him to a sign."
Satan met Him. And the first thing, Satan met--when he met Jesus (in Saint Matthew the 4th chapter), he said, "If Thou be the Son of God..." "If Thou be," the question mark on God's Word. "If Thou be the Son of God, let me see You do an open miracle here before me. I hear you do these thing over here, and over here."
That's the same kind of a spirit was in the people at His own country, Galilee. "And many, they said, "We've heard You do these things at Capernaum, and we've heard You done it over here. Now, let's see You do it here."
And Jesus marveled, and He could do no mighty works because of their unbelief. Is that right? He was, marveled at it. And then He said, "A prophet is not without honor, except in His own country."

L-24 And we see Satan then, tell Him, said, "Now, if You be the Son of God, let's see You do a miracle for me now. I'll give You something to do, and if You'll do it, I'll believe You're the Son of God." in so many words. "Now, here--here You're--You're hungry, now, You can turn these stones into bread, nothing bad about. You make them bread, and eat, set down there and eat. And turn them stones to bread, and I'll believe You."
Why, Jesus could have done that, I believe. But He said, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone." He just found out, Satan did, that he wasn't meeting Moses that time.
He said, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
So Satan said, "Now, that's a Bible scholar; He knows where He's standing, so I better give Him some Scripture." So he took Him up on top of the pinnacle of the temple, said, "Now, look I'm going to quote Scripture to You, correctly. It is written, 'He shall give the Angels charge concerning you, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone, they bear thee up.'" Said, "Now, that's Scripture." Said, "Now, You just jump off of here, and before You get to the ground, just come right back up like that, and I'll believe You're the Son of God."
All right. Jesus said, "Yes, that's written sure enough, but it's also written, 'Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.'" See?
So he found out that he had met a little more of a student than he was. And so finally, he taken Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and out onto the mountain, and tried to tempt Him in every way through the Word. But Jesus would not clown for Satan, and He doesn't yet.
